Entertaining and enlightening...
by andymaxyyc on 2024-04-13Positives: The music was incredible. The band was solid and the vocals were well-suited for the parts they represented without TRYING too hard to 'be' Leonard and Joni. The storytelling was great- the delivery of the stories, that is. The accompanying images were delightful. The song selection was a great mix of familiar favourites and lesser known tracks. The show made me want to go out and buy more Joni Mitchell albums. Negatives: The story jumped around a bit which felt disingenuous. It didn't really affect the mood of the show, but it made me question the veracity of any of the stories. When I first heard of the show, I had pictured something more like a stage play with musical elements included. This was unexpected, but nonetheless entertaining. Overall, I enjoyed this experience. However, please understand that you are paying theatre prices for what amounts to an elaborate tribute band performance with some stories and pictures thrown in. It would take a very special artistic subject for me to check out another show of this type.
