Suuns kicked it - period. Emotionally attached to the songs, and engaging to the audience (though only 30 peole or so in attendance - yes, a Monday night...but come on Calgary, if you can get out for Stampede on a Monday, then go check out bands like this1). Would recommend if early Sonic Youth is up your alley. 'Bit of CLINIC in there too. Brings the boys back to town!

About
SUUNS IN CONCERT:
Canadian innovators Suuns continue to push the sonic envelope with their hazily beautiful compositions and mesmerizing live shows. The band's fuzzed-out, reverb-soaked blend of krautrock, shoegaze, and indie makes for a seriously unique listen, and they take their already-expansive sound to massive new heights in concert with additional effects and instrumentation. Whether they're casting a hallucinatory spell with "Sunspot" or jamming to the woozy lilt of "2020", Suuns always deliver mind-blowing performances on their must-see tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Suuns was formed in Montreal in 2006 when vocalist/guitarist Ben Shemie and bassist Joe Yarmush got together and started making beats. Before long they were writing full-blown songs, and they added drummer Liam O'Neill and keyboardist Max Henry to complete the Suuns lineup. After writing tunes and playing local shows for several years, the band signed to venerable indie imprint Secretly Canadian and released their 2010 debut album Zeroes QC. The group spent much of 2011 performing at festivals around the world, including high-profile sets at New York's CMJ, Austin's SXSW, and Spain’s Primavera Sound. In 2013 they released their sophomore album Images Du Futur to extensive critical acclaim and a spot on the long list for the year's Polaris Music Prize. Passionate performers known for their intense live shows, Suuns continue to chart new sonic territory every time they hit the road on tour.
