Overall very entertaining. I would definitely recommend this show to my friends. We were impressed by the talent of the singers, dancers and the musicians. Great show!
Honestly, I expected Rocketman to be a ‘tribute’ show, where the songs and singers sound like actual Elton John. Not so. I was very disappointed, but I guess I should have not expected so much since I only paid $35 a ticket. Our seats were fantastic. But the show itself was not of the caliber that we were expecting. It had the feel of a high school performance. Also, I felt that the piece in the show that refers to Elton's sexual preferences was completely out of line. Very poor taste.
I have been to a variety of shows at The Avalon and have always enjoyed the performances...until Friday. Rocket Man was very disappointing. The band was good, the singers were OK but the dance routines were very sloppy. I noticed many of the dancers making obvious mistakes and they appeared to be unsure of what they were supposed to be doing at times. I have a dance background so I thought I was being a little critical, but when my husband leaned over to comment on the bad dancing, I knew it wasn't just me. Much of the audience left the performace early...in fact, we were the only people left in our row by the end of the show. Embarassing to say the least.
We went to see the show Saturday afternoon with friends from work. Good mix of songs, nice upbeat tempo. Loved our seats, we were sitting in the balcony and had a great view of the stage. It was an entertaining way to spend the afternoon. The cast did a great job, we love Elton John!
This was such an amazing tribute to Elton John. The dancers both men and woman and the singers were absolutely phenomenal! There was never a moment between the songs, they really kept things going and kept the audience involved.
Everything was fine. I suggest the starting time at 13 or 14 hours, instead 15 hours.
Very amateur production! The female singers were above average, the band sounded good, but the male singers were average at best. At one hour and 15 minutes and at 50 dollars a ticket, I would not recommend this show to anyone. What was Elton John's playlist about? We came to hear his music and not some lousy montage of 70's hits. Considering Elton John has been around for over 40 years, filling a 75 minute production with his music alone can not be difficult. Watching Don't Go Breaking My heart was painful. Very disappointing but the entire cast did try hard to entertain the crowd. Too bad this cruise ship production was not equal to the effort.
The show reminded me of the type of production you would experience at an all inclusive 4 star resort in the Caribbean. I know they tried hard to put on a good show, but the talent pool was shallow. Elton John would be furiously displeased with the show. The costumes were unclean and did not fit. The music arrangements were dreadful. The "Goodbye England's Rose" should not be in the show! The bottom line is, you would get more entertainment value by stuffing $60 worth of coins into a slot machine and would probably last just as long. The show was a little more than one hour. At least you didn't have to suffer more agony. This will cause me to seriously reconsider attending any future shows at the Fallsview Avalon.
