RELIENT K IN CONCERT:

More than a decade after their powerful pop punk anthems launched them to stardom, Relient K continues to be a reliably awesome live act. Longtime fans will be ecstatic to hear a setlist packed with throwback favorites like "High Of 75" and "Be My Escape" along with tracks from the band's later releases, including 2013's Collapsible Lung. Frontman Matt Thiessen is especially entertaining onstage, captivating concertgoers with his personable and funny banter. With their fast-paced pop jams and emotionally charged sets, these Christian rockers always deliver a high-octane concert experience that leaves ticket buyers begging for more.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Vocalist Matt Thiessen, guitarist Matt Hoopes, and bassist Brian Pittman formed Relient K in 1998 in Canton, Ohio. The group incorporated spiritual themes into their pop punk tunes, quickly becoming a staple of the Christian rock scene. Christian label Gotee Records signed the band and released their self-titled debut album in 2000. They quickly amassed a huge following thanks to a heavy touring schedule and a catalog of upbeat tunes brimming with clever pop culture references. Their third album, 2003's Two Lefts Don't Make A Right...But Three Do, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Gospel Album. In 2004 the group achieved mainstream stardom with the release of their fourth album Mmhmm, which spawned the Top 40 hits "Be My Escape" and "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been". The record debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 chart after receiving heavy radio airplay and exposure on MTV. Their next album,  2007's Five Score And Seven Years Ago, became their biggest hit to date, debuting at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. In 2014 Relient K announced a nationwide tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Mmhmm, generating considerable excitement among fans before hitting the road with an updated lineup consisting of Thiessen, Hoopes, guitarist Jon Schneck, drummer Dave Douglas, and bassist John Warne, who replaced Pittman after his departure in 2004.

Relient K was excellent as usual. Almost everyone they were touring with sucked though, and they played for way too long before getting to the main act. The venue was nothing special, was not impressed with the total lack of seating.
