LCD SOUNDSYSTEM IN CONCERT:
Back in the early '00s fans fell hard and fast for the funky electronica and rebellious rock and roll spirit LCD Soundsystem brought to their superb albums and killer live shows. The fun ended in 2011 when the band hung up their guitars and unplugged their drum machines, but not all was lost—legendary frontman James Murphy announced a reunion in 2015, and fans can't wait for LCD to blast some seriously funky stuff when they return to the stage. With headlining sets at several world-class festivals slated for 2016, the band has fans chomping at the bit to dance the night away to favorites like “Losing My Edge”, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, and “North American Scum”. LCD Soundsystem is sure to deliver the party-worthy passion that ticket buyers love to feel on the dance floor, and fans can't wait for their epic comeback party.
BACKFROUND SNAPSHOT:
James Murphy bounced around the NYC music scene for more than a decade before gaining traction with the DJ project Death from Above, which saw him spinning everything from Daft Punk to Can. After seeing a younger DJ aping his unique mixes, he was inspired to write the snarky, humorous “Losing My Edge” in 2002 and LCD Soundsystem was born. He continued to cut successful singles and assembled a group of musicians to recreate his songs in a live setting, a move that thrilling both indie rockers and underground dance fans. Murphy's underground fame soon gave way to crossover success—the band's 2005 self-titled debut and 2007 album Sound of Silver both received Grammy nominations for Best Electronica/Dance Album. After the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening, Murphy decided to step out of the limelight and announced the group’s final show the following year. The hiatus only lasted four years, as the songwriter posted a heartfelt letter to his fans in 2015 telling them he had come up with a wealth of new material and decided that his former band would be the best outlet for it. With LCD Soundsystem headlining major festivals like Coachella in 2016, fans can’t wait to pick up where this dance party left off.

I saw these guys in NYC at a small venue in the bowery before they took a break 5 years ago. I was concerned that in a bigger venue like the Toronto ACC, the show would not deliver. I was surprised at the sound quality and the show in general. James Murphy was amazing and the crowd was very much into the beat and the overall vibe. Excellent lighting and an entourage of amazing artists made you resonate to the beat. I loved the edginess of the guitar which made it a bit more rock and roll and not just electronic dance pop. The only drawback was the show didn't start until 9:00 (7:00 start on ticket) and was well short of 2 hours including the non encore. The show in NYC was well over 2 hours and then a couple of encores.
Murphy and Co. were at the top of their game, welcome back to the fold!! Great show, not much of a stage set, but true artists don’t need ‘em!!
Laval is like an hour away from Montreal. I'm pretty sure most people didn't go because of the distance. The mirror ball was perfect. The Setlist had many songs from the first album. It wa great.
Honestly one of my best live shows hands down. Can't say enough about them. The sound was amazing also!
Sad I missed MSG, but this show was so intimate and special.
The show was great. I already miss them. I hate long goodbyes. The sound could have been a little better but like that really mattered. I made the terrible mistake of trying to trade for floor tickets and they were counterfeit. I almost missed the show because of it. I had to find another ticket outside. My partner could not see the show as we could only find one ticket at that time as the show already started. Truly a sad moment. LCD you will be missed.
The best show I have even been to. I love you James Murphy. I hope to see him again in some shape or form!
LCD puts on an amazing show, knowing just what song to play at what time; combined with some subtle humour and an explosive encore, the show is one to remember. I would see them every time they came to my city.
I was worried about being washed out for this outdoor show seeing as the weather has been so bad lately but was pleasantly surprised. Opener Holy Ghost! was decent band that got the crowd going. They featured a guest appearance by LCD's Nancy Wang, who sang backup on their first few songs of their set. LCD Soundsystem opened with Us and Them from their second album Sound of Silver, which got them off to a good start. Following up with current single Drunk Girls got the crowd moving. I found that they kept building throughout their set, keeping me warm and moving throughout.
