KEITH SWEAT

R&B SUPERSTAR TOURING AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND THIS JULY & AUGUST WITH SPECIAL GUEST CDB

Illusive Presents and Frontier Touring are thrilled to confirm that R&B sensation and New Jack Swing pioneer Keith Sweat will tour Australia and New Zealand this July and August. In addition to performing an array of old classics, he will also be celebrating the release of his brand new album Dress To Impress (out now). He will be joined on tour by Australian R&B quartet CDB.

‘He so effortlessly recaptures the magic that made him one of R&B’s biggest stars’ – Soul in Stereo

‘Respectable and sound, Dress to Impress is tried-and-true.’ – The Musical Hype

‘Keith Sweat still has the power to ‘Make You Sweat’ when he puts on a show.’ – Soul Train

Born in Harlem, New York, Sweat performed throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut with his band Jamilah before breaking out on his own in 1984.   The release of his debut album Make It Last Forever sold over three million copies and featured hit single ‘I Want Her’ which catapulted to number one on the R&B charts and number five on the pop charts.

Make It Last Forever was followed shortly thereafter by I’ll Give All My Love To You in 1990, which reached number three on the Billboard 200 chart. It featured memorable 90’s R&B singles ‘Make You Sweat’ and ‘I Give All My Love To You’, both singles reaching number one on the R&B charts.

In addition to being an accomplished and successful R&B star, Sweat is considered a pioneer of New Jack Swing, a sound that fuses together hip-hop, contemporary soul, high tech funk and in some cases hip-hop. Sweat’s debut album Make It Last Forever was extremely influential in developing the sound with some critics even considering it to be what kicked off the genre.

Throwing it back to basics, Dress To Impress pays homage to Sweat’s original sound. Driven by his classic laid back R&B style, it features singles such as ‘Good Love’ and ‘Just The 2 Of Us’, capturing how truly talented an R&B star Sweat is.

Joining Sweat on tour is 90’s Australian R&B group CDB whose cover version of Earth, Wind & Fire’s ‘Let’s Groove’ peaked at number two on the ARIA singles chart. Returning to the scene with their new album Tailored For Now – Eleven R&B Super James (released Friday 28 April via Warner Music), their music is about creating nostalgia while transitioning into a new era.

Having sold over 25 million albums in the US alone and several of his singles reaching number one, Sweat is amongst only a handful of R&B artists to have been rewarded such longevity and success in their career. Don’t miss out on witnessing some of R&B’s most memorable songs from one of the genre’s icons. Fans are urged to secure their tickets early to avoid missing out on what is sure to be an amazing night.

  • I blinked and it was over

Keith was amazing but the overall show was very short. There was no organization in terms of the seating. People were not in their purchased seats and the security did little to change that situation. However it was still an amazing night!

I was very disappointed in the management/staging of this concert. It took way too long to change over after each group/entertainer. Keith Sweat did not come on until 11:45. He was great. But on a Sunday night ending at 1:00 am when people have to work on Monday morning was treacherous. If the groups were going to take the stage for that long or it was going to take so long to switch equipment maybe the show should've started earlier.
