About

The music of half alive breathes, evolves, grows, and changes alongside the lives of the Long Beach trio--Josh Taylor [vocals], Brett Kramer [drums], and J Tyler Johnson [bass]. half alive officially came to life on the 2017 3 EP, which sparked a palpable buzz on the strength of "The Fall" and "Aawake At Night". Over the course of the next year, they crafted what became their massive breakout single "still feel." which has been RIAA certified Gold, rocketed into the Top 10 at Alt Radio and has over 285 million worldwide streams to date.

Since then, the band has released two full-length albums, were named YouTube's Artist on the Rise, have had multiple Top 20 Alt Radio singles, performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! And The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, secured a spot in Vevo's DSCVR class and showcased their incredibly creative artistry at NPR's Tiny Desk with the outlet calling them "a band with a clear vision and gift for design, not just in the earworms they write, but in their entire presentation."

With help from incredible collaborators like choreographers and creative partners Jordan Johnson and Aidan Carberry, otherwise known as JA Collective, half alive have completed three headlining tours across the United States, EU and UK, supported Twenty One Pilots on a massive arena tour and have graced major festival stages like Outside Lands, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. Celebrated for their cutting-edge choreography and visual presentations both on and off the stage, the band has quickly become the definition of a must-be-seen to be believed act.

  • Great setlist and show

by Kirpal on 2025-04-19The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

They did a wonderful job. Great setlist - heavy on new Persona album which was great but also played a good chunk of their other songs across the catalog. Production wise (set and stage) it was a little less flamboyant/creative than their last 2 tours but it didn’t take away from the experience. Would certainly make a point to see them whenever they’re in town.

  • Super snazzy

  • Phenomenal Show

by J on 2023-05-04The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been to a handful of concerts, this is by far the most engaging and exciting show I’ve ever seen. They not only sang and performed well, but they also provided choreographed dancing and special effects too. There was a moment where the show had to be stopped and they showed real humility and humanity in dealing with the issue. Amazing!

  • I reaaaallly wanted to love this show!

by eb on 2023-05-04The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Musically the band was super tight and they’re incredibly talented dudes. All of the more conceptual stuff in their set with set pieces and blocking just seemed to fall flat. I’m all for a choreographed gig but a lot of it felt like it wasn’t in service of the overall set or any main theme and also felt like the band was stiffer in there motions cause they had to hit marks. After about halfway through it was just kinda tired

  • solid

the performance itself was great! however the concert was overall too long (6:30 doors opened, didn't leave until 11, there were two openers for some reason) and the sound mixing was really bizarre all the way through, the bass and drums were way too much and drowned out rest of the sound, which doesn't really work for half alive's style imo

  • The Ultimate Concert

by Emily Joanne on 2023-05-04The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This is hands-down the best concert experience I’ve ever had. It was a production and an experience to be had, which sets half alive apart. The music, the lights, the dance, and all the little personal things they added to the concert were incredible. The arrangement of both the music and the stage was artistic. My jaw was dropped for almost the entire concert. The band was so interactive and the venue was the perfect size. This concert solidified them as my favourite band of all time!

  • Incredible

  • Amazing, artful and thought out

by Cass on 2019-10-07L'Astral - MontréalRating: 5 out of 5

Honestly, just overall an amazing show. Sure Sure killed it opening with their infectious good vibes. Half Alive was coordinated, beautiful and a complete experience. Killer vocals, fun visuals and meaningful choreography had an entire room's attention 100% focused on the stage, and that's impressive.
