An Incredible Night for True Final Fantasy Fans

Toronto was one of the dates that was fortunate enough to have Nobuo Uematsu in attendance. A number of old favorites made up the set list. The show opened with Liberi Fatali. Members of the Telus choir were accompanying the Kitchener-Waterloo Orchestra and I have to say, they sounded a little thin and could have used a little bit more practice. The choir definitely improved throughout the night. Fans were also treated to J-E-N-O-V-A, which is not a song typically played at Distant Worlds. There were some North American premieres from some of the earlier Final Fantasy games and some songs from the newer games (e.g. Blinded by Light from FF XIII and songs from FF XIV). Three vocal soloists performed songs from FF VI, I believe and their voices were magical. The crowd of 3000 easily sounded like 12,000 when Nobuo Uematsu appeared after the intermission and when he joined the Telus choir for the encore "One Winged Angel". The applause and cheering were thunderous. Definitely a must see for any fan of the Final Fantasy series.
