Step right up for the grand romantic
by Roanna on 2015-07-11The Opera House - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5I've been listening to Nate Ruess for years - from The Format, to fun., and now his solo stuff. It was really exciting to see him again and to hear these new songs he's been working on. He played a great selection from the album, Opening with the super-summery-jam that is "Great Big Storm", he played a great selection from "Grand Romantic", and also threw in a gorgeous piano version of the P!nk song he featured on, "Just Give Me A Reason".
Not forgetting where most of his fanbase comes from, he included the three "big" fun. singles: "Carry On", "We Are Young", and "Some Nights". He also played one song from The Format, "She Doesn't Get It", which was one of my favourite moments.
One of the great things about seeing Nate Ruess live (in whatever band) is that he sounds exactly the same in real life as he does recorded, which just proves how impressive his voice is. And he has an almost theatrical vibe when he's onstage, which makes for an entertaining show. Highly recommended.
